Heritage University is an independent, four year, nondenominational university that provides quality, accessible undergraduate and graduate academic programs to a multi-cultural student body. Dedicated to serving unmet higher education needs of a rural, multicultural population on its Toppenish campus and other sites, Heritage University believes that quality higher education provided in these special environments has unique and highly valuable characteristics. Recent high school graduates find at Heritage University an opportunity to attend a four year college without being uprooted from their homes, their cultural ties and their local communities. Through work-study jobs, practicum opportunities, and community service activities of the college, students become contributing citizens of their local communities from the beginning of their higher education.

Both recent high school graduates and older students with families or jobs have an opportunity to earn a college degree in the company of other local community members and forge lasting ties across cultural differences. A new network of persons aware of social and global issues is built within local communities.

As a small institution, Heritage University has a carefully selected faculty to match its specific degree programs. The department chairpersons and faculty are chosen for their degree backgrounds, their teaching ability, and their dedication to Heritage University's personalized educational environment.

The Heritage University Library houses about 30,000 volumes for use by students, faculty, and community members. The University is a member of OCLC (On-line Computer Library Center) which makes available books from other libraries. The library has numerous multi-cultural resources including works by Native American and Hispanic authors.
